The Story Behind

Inspired by my trip to Italy in 2019, this painting was born from a sketch created during my time travelling. The Angel of Self Love symbolises the journey of 'Self Love' through a deeper connection to the divine within.

Painted over a period of 18 months The Madonna came to life from a spontaneous vision and impulse. I found inspiration in Michelangelo's beautiful and famous statue, 'The Pietà'.
